Yannick Schwaller will handle double duty at the 2026 Olympics.
Swiss Curling announced its teams heading to Milan-Cortina on Thursday. Not only will Schwaller skip his men’s team, but he will also compete in the mixed doubles tournament with Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann.
It’ll be the first Olympics for the husband-and-wife duo, who have competed twice at the world mixed doubles curling championship, missing the playoffs in 2023 and finishing fourth in 2024.
Schwaller skips and throws third on his men’s team, which also features fourth Benoît Schwarz-van Berkel, second Sven Michel and lead Pablo Lachat-Couchepin.
Schwarz-van Berkel will make a fourth consecutive Olympic appearance. He earned the bronze medal in 2018 with skip Peter de Cruz. Michel will play in his third Olympics while Lachat-Couchepin will appear in his second after serving as the alternate in 2022.
Team Schwaller, ranked No. 2 in the world, took home silver at the world championship in April.
Silvana Tirinzoni’s team was selected to compete in the women’s tournament.
Tirinzoni, who also skips and throws third, plus fourth Alina Pätz will make their third Olympic appearances. Second Carole Howald will make her second after serving as Tirinzoni’s alternate in 2022, while lead Selina Witschonke will make her Olympic debut.
Tirinzoni, No. 2 in the women’s rankings, has claimed silver at the past two women’s worlds after capturing four consecutive gold medals.
Switzerland has earned one gold, three silver and three bronze at the Olympics since curling was added to the official program in 1998.
