Nothing humbles NHL players quite like curling.
The Columbus Blue Jackets hit the ice, the pebbled ice that is, at the St. Adolphe Curling Club in Manitoba for a team-bonding experience back in December and uploaded Friday in the latest episode of Behind the Battle 2024-25.
Knee-sliding, hogged rocks, slips and falls ensued.
“It’s a lot harder than it looks,” Blue Jackets forward Mathieu Olivier said.
Head coach Dean Evason, who said he liked to curl when he was younger and loves watching the sport, was the best of the bunch — by far.
Evason also provided a brutally honest assessment of his team’s performance.
“There was not one player that I would think could actually curl,” he said. “Not one.”
Well, at least no one ripped their pants this time.
