Discover more about the charity game, which will pit the world’s No. 1 curling teams against one another, ahead of the last Grand Slam of the season.
It’s the battle for curling supremacy but with a twist.
On Monday, 7 April, skips Bruce Mouat and Rachel Homan and their No. 1 ranked curling teams, will put their best to the test as they go head-to-head in a historic clash at Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.
The eight-end skins game will feature Mouat’s men against Homan’s women, plus celebrity coaches, guest appearances, and unique rule changes as both teams endeavour to raise money for their chosen charities.
Even with all the excitement around the “Battle of the Sexes” game, few can deny that watching Team Mouat and Team Homan go head-to-head will be intriguing.
The world’s top-ranked teams for each gender will step onto the ice off the back of sensational seasons.
Homan’s Canadian rink are currently 56-4 this season and were recently crowned back-to-back women’s world champions, winning the 2025 edition in Uijeongbu, Republic of Korea. Mouat’s Scots, similarly, have been on red hot form, winning three consecutive Grand Slam titles as well as clinching a European silver in November last year.
Two-time Olympian Homan and her team may have a slight advantage on Team Mouat in terms of recovery, with the Scots currently in action at the World Men’s Curling Championships in Moose Jaw, but the anticipation is building.
“It’s something that’s been discussed for a while. And like both teams were keen to make it happen as well. So yeah, it’s going to be a really fun night,” Mouat’s third and vice-skip Grant Hardie told Olympics.com about the event in an exclusive interview ahead of the world champs.
“We’re really chuffed to be doing it for a great cause. One of our close friends has stage four skin cancer and he’s fighting for that and doing a great job of fighting it. So we’re all wishing him all the best, and hopefully we can raise quite a bit of money for him too.”
As for their chances in beating Homan, GB’s Olympic silver medallist Hardie wasn’t too optimistic: “Not that confident at the moment,” the 32-year-old said with a smile. “The girls are playing unbelievably. They’ve barely lost a game this year. So yeah, we’ll need to be on our game.”
